Saturday Jobs for Kids

If you have a teen or youngster that would like to earn money on Saturdays there are several jobs they can do in or around their own home or for neighbors and relatives. One of the most common jobs for young men is to offer their services to do yard work. During the summer months there is always someone that needs help mowing or trimming their property. As long as the youngster is old enough to operate the machinery safely, it's a great way for them to earn a wage. For younger children or teens, raking leaves and placing them in bags can be an acceptable job. General yard clean- up can be done by all ages.

Another Saturday job for kids can be caring for younger neighborhood children or smaller members of the family. This is most normally done by teen girls, but teenage boys can be as responsible in this type of job. The teen may be offered a higher wage to baby sit if they have had courses in basic first aid and CPR. These classes are usually available at no cost at your local YMCA or Red Cross. As long as the teenager has had experience in caring for youngsters or babies, this is another Saturday job that is always in high demand.

Walking dogs is a Saturday job for kids that will also help them get some exercise and sunshine that they may miss during the week during school hours. If the teen or youngster enjoys animals there are usually many adults that would be glad to hire them to walk their pets. Bathing dogs can also be a great Saturday job for kids. Many adults don't have time to do this on a regular basis with their busy work schedules.

Working for the elderly is another great Saturday job for kids. Many elderly people need a little help with their house work. If your teen drives they may be able to do small amounts of grocery shopping for an elderly neighbor or relative. A teen girl may be interested in doing small house cleaning jobs such as dusting, washing the dishes, folding laundry, or using the vacuum cleaner. Because youngsters don't usually charge as much as an adult would, more elderly people may be willing to hire them for the extra help they need around the house.

Washing cars is a job that many kids can do on a Saturday. Adults may not have the time to keep their cars as clean as they would like to, so they would be willing to have the job done for a fair wage. If the teen or youngster includes cleaning the interior of the car, including wiping down the doors, washing the windshield and vacuuming, they could earn extra money.

Many local pet shops will hire youngsters on a Saturday afternoon for general cleaning and to help with feeding the pets. This too, is a great job for kids that enjoy spending time with animals. It will not only allow them to earn a wage, but will teach them to be responsible.
